Photos from the Road: Doors of Old Tallinn Estonia

As I walked the cobbled-stone streets of old Tallinn, Estonia, I couldn’t help but notice the colorful and sometimes decorative front doors. Many were painted multiple bright colors, some just featured wooden patters, and others had metal work.

Tallinn has one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Northern Europe. It’s an easy trip from Helsinki on the ferry boat or from Riga, Latvia on the bus. Tallinn is a city packed with museums, towers to climb, and lots of other historic sights. It is capital of a country that likes to boast that they are a paradox of both the ancient and the modern, owing to the fact that it’s a place you can pay for parking with your mobile phone, the country that invented Skype, yet its medieval town is the part that attracts nearly all the visitors.
