I’m not an interior design expert nor do I know very much on the subject. I’ve only briefly touched on the topic when I wrote about malls in Singapore.
I do know, however, when I’m inspired by interior design. This happened most recently at Northern Quest Resort and Casino, where I was invited for three days to check out their facilities. If you’ve followed my travels, you know I’ve not often at resorts, spas, or casinos. What attracted me to this trip was the chance to visit the Kalispel Indian Reservation and meet some of the tribe’s members.
We also got a chance to check out the city of Spokane and some of the great places to eat around town as well as taste wine at a couple of nearby wineries. More on all this coming soon.
So, I’ll take you through the inside of Northern Quest. It doesn’t only look good and feel good but nearly every aspect of the design was conscientiously installed. This intentional design is comforting and stimulating in an age of generic everything.
You’ll see the repeated theme of flowing water which is an essential element to the Kalispel whose homeland is centered on the Pend Oreille River. You’ll see examples of the four-headed showers, the hallway carpet design, and wooden rods inspired by those in the river used to guide timber.
Northern Quest Resort and Casino is run by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians and is located just outside Spokane, Washington.
