Bohemian Traveler Goes to Europe and $100 Giveaway

It’s about time for a return to Europe. It’s been 2 ½ since I was abruptly and ungracefully whisked from my bohemian lifestyle in Madrid. How have I dealt with not being in Europe? By being in Asia (the next best, or maybe the best, thing)!

To kick off the trip, I’m giving away $100 gift card from Amazon. There are a few ways to enter, See below…

Going to Europe

On Tuesday I’m flying to Iceland for a week before moving on to Finland and the Baltics and then the rest of Europe. I usually like to spend more time in fewer places, but this trip will be more of a whirlwind for a few reasons. Together with Runaway Juno, we’ll be visiting friends, attending conferences, visiting my past favorite places and lots of new stops, all while partnering with Eurail.com to zip us around speedily between our destinations.

There are a lot of countries on the list and not much time, but don’t worry, I’ll be going slow enough to stop for the bohemian coffee shops, sample the street food, relax in the plazas, and scope out the art and architecture. I’ll try not to be too distracted and bring you the best stories, photos, and budget travel tips I can.

The rough itinerary:

August

  • Iceland
  • Finland
  • Estonia
  • Latvia
  • Lithuania
  • Poland

September

  • Slovakia
  • Hungary
  • Austria
  • Czech Republic
  • Germany
  • Spain
  • France

October

  • Belgium
  • Switzerland
  • Italy
  • November
  • Greece
  • Cyprus

If you’ll be in any of these places at any of these times, let me know and we’ll meet up.

Enter me for a chance to win $100 @BohemianTrav !

Below you’ll find the Raffle Copter where you have 5 ways to enter. You’ll want to at least be a Fan on Facebook and on my mailing list to get the best updates from Europe. @Kaylin I agree, it’s fun going to a country where you know the language. Good luck with the teaching job!

@Elena And my favorite beer country in Europe in the UK–but I’m not going there on this trip 🙁

@Scott I would have to agree-I love Spain as well! I’m never been to Prague, but I keep hearing good things about the place.

  4. I will say the Czech Republic because of its excellent beer. Somehow it’s only Germany and Belgium that get the fanfare for it but I actually like Czech beer much better.

    @Vanya Russia’s visa policy’s are a pain in the zhopa. I won’t return until it’s easier

Thanks Matt! We will gladly accept your beer! I’ll tell random.org to pick you!

  7. Favorite is difficult. I’ve really had a great time each time I’ve been to Prague in Czech Republic and Germany has been great every time I’ve been there especially Bavaria. I think though that Spain really captured me in a number of ways especially Andalusia and the incredible mountains of Ordesa Parque Nacional. I really love Spain!

  8. That is a great list of countries to go to.

I’ll be in London, Malta, Italy, and Dublin in September.
    Enjoy!

  9. What this? Skirting around mother Russia in this teasing way….it is not right. Holy kaka house stephen do you not hear the glorious sound of the Rodina Mat calling you to her sladky bosom? Chyort….

  10. My favorite country in Europe is probably France! I studied French in high school and college and studied abroad there in college. It was my very first foreign country so it holds a special place in my heart. I’m moving there for 7 months in September to be an English teaching assistant!

  12. Italy rocks because I have in-laws there that feed me like my stomach is a bottomless pit 😉 They were also very concerned about my disinterested in coffee or wine, so it seemed the only solution was to give me enormous bottles of beer instead – it was hilariously adorable.

Italy also gave me the Italian Futurists and the Peggy Guggenheim museum, so it’s kinda like an art history geek-out mecca for me. (Yeah, I know that whole Renaissance thing happened there too, but the 20th C art is way cooler)

  13. I haven’t been to Europe yet, but I would most like to see Spain. I want to experience their dialect and see Barcelona and Madrid along with the little towns!

  14. Favourite so far has to be Copenhagen, Denmark.
Expensive but sleep, sophisticated, you can ride a bike around it and there is plenty of culture to explore. 🙂

  15. My favorite country…a tossup between Italy and Amsterdam. I think Italy wins. Venice charmed me.
Can’t follow you on twitter as I need more follows to keep following (stupid rule!) but I’ll tweet away.
Your itinerary sounds tiring and amazing all at the same time. Especially Iceland!

  16. My favorite country in Europe would have to be France. I love the language and culture. I am working on fluency in French and I would love to see other areas of France besides the area of Paris.

  17. France is one of my favorite countries that i wan’t to visit someday. Thanks for the opportunity to win this giveaway! Love it!
